Watercolour wildlife in miniature

This is actually a blog post that I wrote a few months back. Typically, I forgot to post it and was going to delete it. But, considering it contains some paintings of cute animals I thought I would go ahead and post it anyway. Only the bottom three paintings (otter, fox, and bee) are available for sale now.

I had been painting a few miniature wildlife portraits to get my hand back into painting on small scale. With the heat there was not a lot of other work going on. It is amazing how little I want to work when I get too hot. I much prefer a foot of snow on the ground.

Miniature wildlife paintings of a badger, puffin and rabbit

The first set of paintings is of a scruffy looking badger, a rabbit and a puffin. My sister went to the Farne Islands during the summer and took some lovely photos for me. Seal paintings will be coming at some point.

Next we have an otter, a red fox and a bee. The local population of otters has been growing here. When I moved here over 25 years ago there were none. Now the population at the local lochs has become quite healthy. Every now and then you might come across one trundling up the roadside.

All of the paintings can be found in my web shop. I will be posting some autumn and harvest based images soon - at least that is the plan. The way my memory is these days, there is no saying when though.
